Install a home virtualizzation server

I had the need to perform a few different tasks, such as monitoring solar panels, download torrents/emule,  run vpn servers, aggregate two different ADSL connections, share media files, backup data.

I decided to build my own mini-server to host all the services needed to meet my requirements.

I preferred to build a virtualizzation server, and than install multiple OSes. This choice partially derives from me having already 3 different OS installations on two old PCs. I migrated these on the new server as virtual machines.

Corfù (Kerkyra)

Corfù (Kerkyra) is a greek island located in the south of the Adriatic Sea. here the climate is mediterranean, more rainy than greek islands average, thus the vegetation is abbundant, with olive trees and conifers.

I visited this island at the end of may 2016. The weather was always sunny, temperatures in range 23-26 °C during the day, and 17-18 °C by night (in Paleokastritsa)

Fuerteventura – Faro de El Tostón – El Cotillo

Trip to Fuerteventura – October 2016
BEACHES IN THE NORTH:
Faro de El Tostón

You can reach this beach by car, along a dirty road, in 5 minutes starting from El Cotillo and going North-East.

The water is shallow, it is windy but there are almost no waves. There is a sort of volcanic reef, that made the sea just like a pool. A very big one.

Fuerteventura – Ajuy

Trip to Fuerteventura – October 2016

Ajuy

Ajuy beach is located on the west coast, almost midway between Jandia peninsula and El Cotillo. It is a black sand beach.

Ajuy map

To get there you have to  drive along a canyon and oasis,  which are worth a quick visit.

Beach position and conformation keep the wind away. It is one of the hottest place i’ve found in fuerteventura.

Fuerteventura Sur – Playa de Cofete (Mountain Bike)

A trip to Fuerteventura – October 2016

BEACHES IN THE SOUTH:

Playa de Cofete

Cofete is a large and wild beach located on the North coast of the Jandia peninsula. You only options to get there are a dirty road or paths.

By car it takes about 1 hour and more than 18km of dirty road from Jandia.

By bike you can follow the road to Cofete, then take the road below:

https://en.komoot.de/tour/11690376?ref=wtd

It leads you in the Burranco de Las Damas/Gran valle, up to a pass that separate the north from the south coast. You can even go there by foot, it is “only” an 11km walk back and forth.

First part of the path to Cofete: Burranco de Las Damas / Gran Valle

If you decide to go there by bike, please note that is a difficult road. not dangerous, but depending on your skill, you may have to get off the bike for 2/4km of the total. At the top of the hill, you’re likely to find a strong wind. It rised my bike and moved it, so be careful. But 100m over the top everything gets easier.

Fuerteventura Sur – Mal Nombre

A trip to Fuerteventura – October 2016

Beaches in the South:

Mal Nombre

You can reach this beach by car, in ten minutes from Jandia lighthouse. Just take the coast road heading north, and you’ll find a narrow road on your right, follow the sign “Mal Nombre”.

https://www.google.com/maps/dir/28.0491264,-14.3323952/28.0909019,-14.284705/@28.0690546,-14.331522,13z/data=!4m2!4m1!3e0

A dirty road, but you can go on it with almost any car. You can then walk for kilometers in each direction, and enjoy the scenery.
